The Ukrainian army is rumoured to have been planning for a counteroffensive to retake areas once the winter is over for several months. A spokeswoman for the Ukrainian Southern Operations Command, Natalia Humenyuk, revealed towards the end of December 2022 that this force is actively preparing to be able to destroy the Russian fortifications during this period, retaking the entire Kherson region from Moscow.
