The comments were made by the President of Ukraine after Russia launched a large-scale attack with long-range missiles against energy infrastructure, military command and communications in Ukraine. According to Zelensky, 12 people died and more than 80 were injured in the attacks.

“The danger is still there, but we are fighting. The enemy can’t stand against us on the battlefield, that’s why they have to resort to this attack. We will make the battlefield more painful for the enemy. enemies. We will restore everything that was destroyed,” the Ukrainian president added.

He also said that the country will submit to the United Nations General Assembly a resolution condemning Russia for its escalating moves, and calling on people to use electricity sensibly while the government seeks to restore production and normal power supply.

The missile strike on Kiev and about 10 cities across Ukraine comes three days after an explosion damaged the Crimean bridge connecting the peninsula of the same name and Russia’s Krasnodar region. President Vladimir Putin accused the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) of carrying out the attack, calling it an act of terrorism on Russia’s essential civilian infrastructure and warning that the country would react “very strongly and in proportion to the threat against the Russian Federation”.

The October 10 raid was the heaviest assault on Kiev in months of silence. The last time the Ukrainian capital was attacked before was June 26. Fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces is currently concentrated mainly in the Kharkov region in the northeast and Kherson in the south of the country.
